Position Overview: We’re seeking a passionate and experienced Director of Development to lead our fundraising, grant management, and community partnership efforts. This role is pivotal in advancing our mission and requires a strategic thinker with a strong track record in development, excellent communication skills, and a deep commitment to the queer community.
Key Responsibilities:
Fundraising Strategy:
Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy to meet annual revenue goals.
Cultivate relationships with individual donors, corporate sponsors, and philanthropic foundations.
Plan and execute fundraising events, campaigns, and initiatives.
Manage a calendar of development activities for timely and effective outreach.
Grant Management:
Identify and pursue grant opportunities from foundations, government agencies, and other sources.
Write, prepare, and submit grant proposals aligned with organizational goals.
Oversee grant reporting and compliance, ensuring accurate and timely submissions.
Foster relationships with grant-making organizations.
Event Sponsorships and Donor Relations:
Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing donors and sponsors.
Implement strategies for donor stewardship, recognition, and communication.
Create compelling materials for donor engagement, including newsletters and impact reports.
Community Partnerships:
Develop and manage partnerships with community organizations, businesses, and influencers.
Collaborate on joint initiatives, events, and outreach programs.
Represent Indy Pride at community events to build and strengthen relationships.
Team Leadership:
Support and develop a strong business structure focused on staff, including recruitment and training.
Collaborate with the Board of Directors to align fundraising strategies with organizational goals.
Provide regular updates on development activities and performance metrics.
Budget and Financial Management:
Develop and manage the development budget, ensuring alignment with financial goals.
Track and analyze fundraising performance, providing recommendations for improvement.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business, communications, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred) or equivalent experience.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in development or fundraising, preferably in the nonprofit sector.
Proven success in securing and managing grants, including proposal writing and compliance.
Strong understanding of fundraising principles and techniques, with a record of meeting or exceeding goals.
Experience managing community partnerships and building collaborative relationships.
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong organizational skills.
Passionate commitment to LGBTQ+ issues and community advocacy.
Additional Information:
Occasional evening and weekend work may be required for events and meetings.
