We are proud to announce the start of a new program, Feeding Joy, an Indy Pride food access program!

This new program will strive to provide a much needed response to the food insecurity crisis in Indianapolis. We here at Indy Pride believe that advocating for food access is more than just providing canned goods, it is working to ensure that everyone has access to safe, healthy, nutritious food. That’s why we are rolling up our sleeves and joining the fight for food parity! We will be providing free food boxes to people via a drive-through style pick up following submission and acceptance of the survey form.

The form to apply for a free food box will be open for submissions on September 1, 2025, and will be linked here.
Each month the form will open for approximately one week, starting on the 1st.

Feeding Joy would not be possible without a generous financial grant designed to provide food access to Central Indiana. However, this grant will only allow us to provide a food access assistance for one year, and with a limited number of boxes each month. We are working to increase the number of boxes we are able to distribute, and hope to expand this program throughout the year.

We have a plan to make this program self-sustainable, and that involves you!

We will be accepting donations of unexpired, un-dented canned goods at all of our events! Please be sure to only donate cans that have a pull tab so they do not require a can opener.

FAQ’s about Program:

Q: What kind of food can I expect in my grocery box?

A: At this time, each of our boxes are guaranteed to contain a selection of shelf-stable canned or boxed goods based on your household’s dietary needs and allergies.

Q: When can I expect my grocery box?

A: We will be offering a drive-through pick up to pass out boxes – details will be sent to you following acceptance of your form. This will take place close to the end of the month, due to staffing and volunteer restrictions. If you indicate that you are in need of delivery, we will contact you to arrange a delivery time.

Q: Can I have my box delivered to me?

A: We will try to accommodate delivery requests for folks living within the 465 highway loop, who are disabled, homebound, and/or do not have transportation.

Q: I live just barely outside the current delivery area. Can I still request a box?

A: On a case by case basis, Indy Pride maybe able to deliver food to those in our community near but just outside the 465 loop. If you would like to explore this possibility, please reach out to us.

Q: Can I request meat in my Grocery Box?

A: Due to limitations in refrigerated storage, we are unable to provide raw meat. We may include canned goods that contain meat, such as chicken noodle soup or canned meat/tuna, in your grocery box based on what’s available in our pantry unless you have specifically marked Vegetarian or Vegan in your Dietary Restrictions.

Q: Something was wrong with my box.

A: Oops! Please let us know as soon as you find something we shouldn’t have packed by contacting us and we’ll try to make it right.

Q: How long will the form take to fill out?

A: The form has 27 questions (some required, some optional). It will take approximately 10 minutes to complete.

Q: Why are you asking questions about my identity in the form?

A: These questions are not required and will not affect assistance eligibility. These questions help us report our program impact to our grant sponsor, which can make it easier to obtain future funding. All information gathered will be reported anonymously.
