After 40 years of stigmatized regulations, the FDA has eliminated blood donation criteria based on sexual orientation! We are excited to partner with the Versiti Blood Center of Indiana and Downtown Olly’s to host a Blood Drive where all Hoosiers will be welcome to donate regardless of their sexual orientation. Versiti is a fusion of blood donation, scientific curiosity and precision medicine which recognizes that the gifts of blood and life are precious, providing 70% of the blood and blood products to local hospitals in the state of Indiana. Versiti needs to see 550 donors each day and 2,900 donors every week.
Versiti stands in full support of efforts by our peers and the FDA to make blood donation more inclusive. This is why we have implemented a change in our Individual Donor Assessment.
Downtown Olly’s is hosting a the blood drive on October 28th to educate and bring awareness to the LGBTQ+ community about the importance of blood donation and how we, as your local blood center are supporting you!
Please join us at our upcoming blood drive and tie dye event! We have the equipment, just bring your favorite item to decorate!
All attendees need to be 21 and over.
